ovbq as a QR Code Generator alternative
QR Code Generator sells editable QR codes, with a 14-day free trial and paid plans. If you're weighing it against ovbq, here are the plans side by side and what each says happens to your printed codes when a trial ends or you stop paying. We make ovbq, so we've linked every QR Code Generator fact to its own page. All were checked October 21, 2026, except rows marked with a later date.

When a trial ends
QR Code Generator's help center says that when the trial ends, "Dynamic QR Codes are deactivated and point to a service page rather than the original destination." It adds: "Any Static QR Codes in your account continue to work." (help article, QR Code Generator: what happens to codes and data when a plan ends, checked October 21, 2026) Upgrading later turns the codes back on, however long ago the trial ended. (help article, QR Code Generator: upgrading after a trial brings codes back, checked October 21, 2026)
ovbq has no trial. The Free plan includes 2 editable codes and counts the first 1,000 scans each month. After that, reaching the scan-count limit does not switch off your code; we just stop counting. Saved pauses and access restrictions still apply.
When you stop paying
QR Code Generator: "Your plan stays active through the billing period you already paid for, and your Dynamic QR Codes keep redirecting for 30 days after that." Then: "Once the 30 days are over, your account is locked and your Dynamic QR Codes redirect to a service page instead of their original destination." Its static codes aren't affected. (help article, QR Code Generator: what happens to expired codes, checked October 21, 2026) To bring them back, it says to "reactivate your subscription". (help article, QR Code Generator: what happens to expired codes, checked October 21, 2026)
ovbq: your plan runs to the end of the month or year you paid for. Then nothing changes for 30 days, and we email you reminders. After that, your 2 oldest website-link codes stay on Free, live or paused as you left them. Other codes show a short notice; any continue action follows the code's access restrictions. Nothing is deleted, and paying again brings them back at once, as many as your plan has room for. Our reprint guarantee, up to $250 per account, stands behind this. The exceptions, such as abuse, fraud or a chargeback, are in Terms section 13. What happens if you stop paying has the full timeline.
Where QR Code Generator does better
- Teams. Advanced includes 2 users and Professional 5. ovbq has one sign-in per account for now.
- Bulk work and an API. Advanced and Professional include bulk creation from a CSV file and API requests. Our pricing page lists neither.
- Very large accounts. It offers an Enterprise plan through its sales team. Our largest plan has 500 editable codes.
- A free trial. Its pricing page says "Start with 14 days for free." We have a Free plan instead, but no trial of Pro or Business.
Where ovbq may suit you better
- More codes for less. On yearly billing, Pro has 50 editable codes for $90 a year. QR Code Generator's Starter has 2 for $119.88 a year, and its plan with 50 is $227.88 a year.
- Month to month on every paid plan.
- A softer landing. If you stop paying, your 2 oldest website-link codes stay on Free, live or paused as you left them, and the rest show a short notice; any continue action follows the code's access restrictions. The exceptions are in Terms section 13.
Switching from QR Code Generator
- Keep your old plan running until the new codes are printed. A printed code's short link lives on the maker's domain, so no one can move it for you. The exception is a code made on your own domain.
- Make the new codes on ovbq, pointing to the same pages. Use a free fixed code for anything that won't change, like Wi-Fi details.
- Reprint the hardest-to-replace items first: signs, packaging and printed menus. Printing QR codes that scan.
- Any static codes you made there keep working, by QR Code Generator's own account, so they can stay where they are.
Still deciding? Compare ovbq with four other makers, see our pricing, or read what to check when a trial is ending. Not sure which kind of code you need? Fixed or editable codes.
