How to print many QR codes on one sheet

Table cards, stickers, labels and flyers often need the same code many times. The print sheet puts many copies of your code on one page, spaced out with crop marks, ready to print and cut.

Make a print sheet

  1. Make your code on the home page.
  2. Under Check it before you print, pick how far away people will scan it, and enter the print width if you know it. The sheet uses both. If you leave the width empty, we use the smallest size that scans well from the distance you picked.
  3. Open Print several copies on one page.
  4. Pick the paper size: Letter (8.5 by 11 inches) or A4 (210 by 297 mm).
  5. Pick the number of copies per page, from 1 to 100.
  6. If you want, add a caption under each code (see below).
  7. Choose Print sheet (PDF).

We arrange the copies with gaps between them and crop marks to cut along. A small ovbq.com line prints at the bottom of the page, on every plan.

For an editable code, choose Set up print sheet on the code's page. It works the same way, on every plan.

Print it at the right size

This is the step that matters most. If your printer shrinks the page, every code gets smaller than the size the checker chose, and it may not scan from where people stand.

  • Print at actual size (100%).
  • Turn page scaling off. In the print window, look for "Fit to page", "Shrink to fit" or "Scale". Choose "Actual size" or "100%" instead.
  • Check one copy with a ruler. Its width, border included, should match the width you chose.

Captions

A caption is a short line of text under each code. On the home page it names the code type, such as "Website link" or "Wi-Fi", so people know what scanning will do. On an editable code it's the code's name, or its short link if the name has characters we can't print. If a caption is too long for the space, it's shortened with "..." so it stays at a readable size. To leave captions off, choose No caption.

How many fit on one page

How many copies fit depends on the width of each code and the paper. Bigger codes mean fewer copies per page. A code sized to be held in the hand, 1.2 in (3 cm) plus its border, fits up to 20 on a Letter page. The sheet is always one page. If you ask for more copies than fit at your width, we don't make it, and we tell you how many fit: "At this size, at most ... copies fit on one page. Choose fewer copies or a smaller size." The sheet never makes a code smaller than the print checker's minimum, so a full page can't shrink your codes below the size that scans.

Before you print a stack: print one sheet, cut out one code, and scan it from the real distance with two different phones, one of them older.
