QR codes for real estate
Yard signs last for years, but listings come and go. Put one editable code on the sign and point it at whichever home the sign stands in front of.
One sign, many listings
An editable code holds a short ovbq link. Today it opens the listing for the house on Palm Street. When that home sells and the sign moves to the next property, sign in, paste the new listing's link and save. The sign stays the same, and the next person who scans it sees the new home.
| When | The sign's code opens |
|---|---|
| March | example.com/ |
| June | example.com/ |
| September | example.com/ |
Flyers, open houses and mailers
Give each piece its own code: the flyer box out front, the open house sign, a postcard mailer. Each code's page shows its scans over the last 30 days and by hour of the day, plus the kind of phone. That tells you which piece people actually used, and when.
Point a flyer code at the photo tour or the full listing. After the sale, point it at your other listings, so a flyer still on someone's fridge keeps bringing you buyers instead of a "sold" page.
Your contact card in a code
A contact card code saves your name, phone number, email and office to the phone of whoever scans it, so nobody mistypes your number from a sign. Make one with our free QR code maker for your business card or a sign rider.
A contact card code is fixed: your details are inside the code, so it works without ovbq, but if your number changes you need a new code. Keep it lean. A card with every field filled in makes a dense code: our checker wants its dots at least 0.9 mm, so it needs to be at least 2.2 in (5.5 cm) wide, not counting its border, even when it is held in the hand. If your details change often, point an editable code at the contact page on your website instead. Tips for business cards.
Size it for the curb
Most people walk up to a yard sign before they scan it. From about 6 ft (1.8 m) away, the code should be at least 7.1 in (18 cm) wide, not counting its white border. If you want it to work from the sidewalk, about 16 ft (5 m) away, it needs to be at least 19.7 in (50 cm). Print dark on light, since light codes on a dark sign can fail on some phones. Our guide to printing QR codes that scan explains why.
Plans for agents and offices
Free covers 2 editable codes, enough to start with one sign. Pro, at $9 a month, covers 50, enough for a code on every sign and every listing's flyers. Business, at $29 a month, covers 500, for an office that runs many signs from one account. Contact card codes are fixed codes, so they are always free.
You can also pay yearly, with 2 months free: see pricing.
Signs outlast plans sometimes. If your paid plan ends, nothing changes for 30 days, then your 2 oldest website-link codes keep working on Free and a scan of any other sign still reaches the listing in one tap. See what happens if you stop paying.
Put several property photos on one page with an image gallery QR code. Check that you have permission to publish every picture.
Make a code for your next listing
Start with the listing link. When the home sells, change where the code goes and keep the sign.
