If you stop paying, printed codes still work
While ovbq runs, your printed codes never go to a dead page, an ad or our sales page. The few exceptions, such as abuse, fraud, a chargeback or a code you delete, are in Terms section 13. If ovbq ever shuts down, we'll tell you 90 days ahead.
- Day 0Your paid plan ends, because you canceled or a payment kept failing. Everything keeps working, and we email you.
- Day 7, 25Two reminders, each with the list of codes that will pause.
- Day 30Your 2 oldest website-link codes stay on Free, live or paused as you left them. The others show a short notice; any continue action follows the code's access restrictions.
- Any dayPay again: codes come back at once, oldest first, up to your plan limit.
How changing the link works
An editable code points at a short ovbq link. You decide where that short link goes, and you can change it whenever you like.
- Make an editable code for the page you have today, for example your fall menu.
- Print it on table tents, flyers, signs or packaging.
- When the page changes, sign in, paste the new link and save. The next scan of every printed copy opens the new page.

Questions
Do my codes expire?
No. A fixed code holds your content, so it lasts as long as the print does, and an editable code has no forced end date. Any saved dates or password still apply. How to be sure a code never expires
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing changes for 30 days. Then your 2 oldest website-link codes stay on Free, live or paused as you left them. Other codes show a notice; Continue still checks any saved dates or password. Your plan ending does not delete the codes. What happens if you stop paying
Can I use my own domain?
Not yet: editable codes use ovbq.com short links. On every plan you can export your links.
What do you track?
Nothing for fixed codes. For an editable code, we count each scan with its time, rough device, system, browser and referring website, and on Pro and Business its country. We never record a city or GPS position. The redirect sets no cookies. Paused and refused requests are not recorded. What QR code tracking shows
We do not store raw IP addresses in our scan database. Recorded scans contain a daily one-way hash of the network address to count how many different network addresses scanned each day. The hash stays with its scan record for up to 24 months; the daily random value used to make it is deleted within about 3 days. Our host keeps separate server access logs; see our Privacy Policy.
More questions
What is the difference between a fixed code and an editable code?
A fixed code holds your content directly. Once printed it can never change, and you need no account to make one. An editable code holds a short ovbq link. You choose where that link goes and can change it after printing. Editable codes need a free account and also count their scans. An editable code can open a web page on any plan, and on Pro and Business also a call, a text, an email, or a page or file we host for you. See what an editable code can open.
Do I need an account to make a fixed code?
No. Fill out the form on the home page and download the file. We do not save what you type into the free maker. The one exception is "Make it editable", which keeps only the link and its strength until you sign in.
I'm signed in. Can I still make a free fixed code?
Yes. Choose "Make a free code" at the top of any page. Fixed codes are free on every plan. They aren't saved in your account, because they hold your content inside the code itself, so download the file before you leave the page.
I have a PDF menu and no website. What can I do?
On Pro and Business, upload it to ovbq. Make an editable code, choose PDF or image, and choose your file: a PDF, JPEG or PNG up to 10 MB. The code opens it, and you can replace the file later without reprinting. For a menu that reads well on a phone, you can also build a menu page with sections, hours and prices. See how to make a QR code menu.
On the Free plan, a free file-sharing service can host the PDF. Upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox or Microsoft OneDrive, set it so anyone with the link can view it, and copy that share link. Then make an editable code that points to it. When the menu changes, upload the new file and point the code at its new link: the printed code stays the same. Step by step.
Which file should I give my print shop?
The SVG or the PDF. Both are vector files, so they stay sharp at any size, and the PDF uses the print width you chose. If the shop asks for EPS, you can download that too. For many copies on one page, use the print sheet. Use the PNG for documents, websites and social posts.
Can I get a PDF of my QR code?
Yes. Next to the print checker, choose PDF. It's a vector file, so it stays sharp at any size. It uses the print width you enter in the checker, or the smallest safe size for your scan distance if you leave it empty. We refuse a size too small to scan. There's an EPS too, for older design and print software.
How do I print many QR codes on one page?
Open "Print several copies on one page" under the downloads, pick the paper and copies, and print the PDF at actual size. How to print many QR codes on one sheet, or make printable table tents, counter cards and stickers.
How big should I print it?
It depends on how far away people will stand, and on how much is in your code. The code itself, without its border, should be at least one tenth of the scan distance and never under 2 cm (about 0.8 in). Each of its dots should be at least 0.7 mm wide. The checker beside the preview works this out for you, and it won't make a file that's too small to scan.
Can I add a logo?
Yes. On fixed codes from the home page it is free: pick one of our 16 icons or add your own file. On editable codes it comes with Pro and Business. The logo sits in the middle on a plain square and covers at most a quarter of the width, or a fifth on a dense code. The code then uses a higher strength (High, or Highest for a large logo on a small code) so phones can still read it. Always test a printed copy first.
Why does the checker say "Check", "Risky" or "Won't scan"?
"Check" means the code will probably scan, but something could cause trouble, such as light dots on a dark background or a size that is small for the distance. "Risky" on the Size line means the code holds a lot, so at this width its dots are under 0.9 mm. We show the size to print it at, and you can still download it. The Scannability line also rates every code Good, Fair or Risky, with its reasons. "Won't scan" means many phones would fail to read it, so we ask you to fix it before you download.
An ovbq code sent me somewhere harmful. What do I do?
Please tell us on the report page. We review reports and switch off codes that break our rules.
